Graduation Day for Saidi
One of the programs that the Asali team is most excited about is the academic scholarship that we provide for Saidi. We believe that Saidi deserved a second chance in his education because of the motivation and leadership skills he demonstrated throughout various programs at Simba’s Footprints, despite falling out of government school after the primary level. Thanks to the Asali scholarship, Saidi has been attending St. Joseph’s Vocational Training School, where he is studying to be a “fundi umeme” or electrical engineer. Saidi thrived in his school setting and graduated on November 28th of this year as a certified VETA electrician with the opportunity to continue into higher education if he chooses.
This past year, thanks to his professionalism and hard work, Saidi was offered a full-time job from both of his internship placements! As a graduation gift, Asali was able to purchase a toolbox full of all the tools Saidi will need as an electrician.
Saidi is a great example of how providing the opportunity for a second chance can change someone’s future. It is Asali’s hope that we can continue to offer second chances for deserving students through this scholarship program in the future.
