Our Story
Sitting on a dock in Maine one afternoon in September, six friends discussed their international development work and shared passion for working with children. Throughout their travels they had come across grassroots organizations with admirable missions, but limited access to resources. It became clear that the best way to truly improve children’s lives is to support these community groups. Thus, Asali was born.
In Swahili, the national language of Tanzania, "asali" means honey. Like honey, a happy childhood is the sweet stuff that supports a healthy community. Let’s make some honey!
